Daonese Johnson-Colón works to amplify JLUSA’s mission and values as the Vice President of Operations/Chief Operations Officer by maximizing the organization’s resources to support the work of its dynamic staff. She is responsible for overseeing business operations, leadership and membership. Prior to joining JLUSA, Daonese served as the Chief of Staff at the John Jay College Institute for Justice and Opportunity (formerly the Prisoner Reentry Institute). She was a strategic thought-partner for the director, led all aspects of finance, human resources and operations and collaborated with program directors to coordinate program planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation. Before joining the Institute, Daonese served in administrative capacities at the Baruch College Survey Research unit, John Jay College’s Center on Media, Crime and Justice as well as the CUNY NYC Early Childhood Professional Development Institute. Daonese is an adjunct lecturer for John Jay College’s Accelerate Complete Engage (ACE) program and the New York Football Giants Touchdown Fellowship. She is also a trained conflict resolution mediator. A recipient of the NAACP Minority Achievement Recognition Award, Daonese graduated Summa cum Laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies and earned a Master’s in Legal Studies from Kaplan University.
