JustUS Coordinating Council called “spearhead for the criminal justice reform movement”
“The current criminal justice reform ecosystem consists of a plethora of organizations that are doing great work to advance policies, reform prisons and jails, educate lawmakers, create post-conviction programs, and much more.
“Despite these efforts, there is still much work to be done. One of the biggest challenges facing the criminal justice reform movement is the lack of a unified front and a defined and agreed-upon spearhead. …
“There is an organization that is creating its own table for the pioneers of reform, and they’re called the JustUS Coordinating Council. What makes them unique is that it’s an organization run by individuals who have been directly impacted by the criminal justice system.
“They understand the struggles and the obstacles that need to be overcome, and they are working to create a unified front and a defined spearhead for the criminal justice reform movement.
“JustUS is committed to building power and driving change by centering the voices of directly impacted individuals. They are creating a space for those who have been impacted by the criminal justice system to come together and share their stories, and to use those stories to effect change. By empowering those who have been impacted, JustUS is creating a space for true grassroots organizing and activism.
“JustUS is not just another organization in the criminal justice reform ecosystem. They are a movement.”
