JLUSA President/CEO DeAnna Hoskins Receives Assistant Adjunct Professorship at Yale School of Medicine

January 22, 2024

JustLeadershipUSA (JLUSA) President and CEO DeAnna Hoskins was recently appointed as Assistant Adjunct Professor at Yale School of Medicine for her role in the ADdressing Vaccine AcceptaNce in Carceral Settings through Community Engagement (ADVANCE)” project.

Hoskins released the following statement: “I am deeply honored to take on this role at the Yale School of Medicine. We know that the COVID-19 pandemic is not over, and that one of the places in our society where there continues to be a disproportionate impact is on those who are incarcerated or work inside of prisons. Infections across this community have been five times higher than in the general U.S. population, and surrounding communities have also been disproportionately affected. Through the ADVANCE project, we hope to identify feasible and effective interventions to improve vaccine uptake in prisons.

“As a formerly incarcerated leader, my experience is my expertise. I’m grateful for this opportunity to work with the prestigious institution of Yale to give back and help others through this research. I want to especially thank the Yale School of Medicine’s Dr. Emily Wang, Director of the SEICHE Center for Health and Justice, for this appointment.”

Dr. Wang says, “Through our ongoing partnership, Ms. Hoskins has already contributed immensely to the SEICHE Center’s mission of building health equity for people impacted by mass incarceration, through her unique carceral system and policy expertise. We are thrilled that her appointment as Assistant Adjunct Professor at the Yale School of Medicine institutionalizes this expertise, laying the groundwork for even greater impact as a member of the Yale community.”
