JLUSA President & CEO DeAnna Hoskins returns from White House Fellowship

September 9, 2025

Dear partners,

I’m excited to share that I’ve returned from my year-long White House Fellowship, where I had the privilege of bringing justice-impacted leadership into some of the nation’s highest decision-making spaces. This wasn’t just a personal milestone—it was a realization of JLUSA’s founding principle, that those closest to the problem are closest to the solution.

JLUSA is not a traditional nonprofit. We are one of the only national organizations that is both founded by and operated by people directly impacted by the justice system. What began as survival has grown into a thriving, premier voice—one that academia, policymakers, and government agencies now turn to for leadership and guidance on issues of social justice. We no longer fight for a seat at the table. We lead the table.

Thanks to your investment and support, Team JLUSA continued advancing our mission while I was away. Now, as I return, we are positioned to take this momentum to the next level—scaling outcomes, deepening partnerships, and laying the foundation for long-term sustainability.

Your belief in us has already proven what’s possible. Together, we can continue to redefine reentry, leadership, and justice in the 21st century.

With deep gratitude and anticipation for what’s ahead,
Onward!
