John Collins is a native of Seattle, Washington and a graduate of Seattle University.  He spent 20 years as the International Representative for Service Employees International Union (SEIU).  More recently, Mr. Collins spent the past 15 years of his career involved with prisoner re-entry programs with organizations such as State of Nevada Department of Corrections, Las Vegas Urban League and Workforce Connections.

At the Las Vegas Urban League, John started the Prisoner Re-entry program where he secured an appropriation from the state legislature to fund a re-entry initiative in the State of Nevada.  He secured funds from the Department of Labor, Department of Justice, and from foundations and helped hundreds of formerly incarcerated people secure employment and transitional services. Eventually, John went to work for the Local Workforce Investment Board (LWIB), Workforce Connections, where he designed a re-entry program which is now known as the PRIDE program. The PRIDE program is a collaborative effort between the Nevada Department of Correction, the local WIB and several community partners.

John is founder and co-chair of the Statewide Prison Re-entry Coalition (SPRC) and a member of the Christian Association for Prison Aftercare.  He is a former board member of the Washington State Convention Authority and the A. Phillip Randolph Institute and served as Corporate Recruitment Chair for America’s Walk for Diabetes for American Diabetes Association’s Las Vegas chapter.  John is presently a partner in Innovations Education & Training, with offices in Las Vegas and Anchorage, Alaska.
