Being called a “Modern Day Johnny Cash,” Jelly Roll is set to perform on December 5 for people incarcerated in the Genesee County Jail in Flint, Michigan. The performance will involve students graduating from the Inmate Growth Naturally and Intentionally Through Education (IGNITE) program, which provides job training, support, and education to inmates to prepare them for their release.
Jelly Roll himself earned his GED while in prison, but he never got to have a graduation, so the jail plans to hold a commencement ceremony for him while he is there.
