Lester Young, Jr.

Senior Movement and Capacity Building Specialist

South Carolina

Lester Young, Jr is a native of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. At the age of 19, Lester was given a life sentence (with the possibility of parole after serving 20 years). On May 15, 2014 (22 years and 5 months later), Lester was released on parole. During his time in prison he realized his purpose was to be a voice to help at risk youth. Lester obtained his G.E.D and enrolled in Business Management Courses, via mail, as a student of Ashworth College. After his release, he established his own non-profit organization, “Path2Redemption.” Lester has hosted numerous workshops for at risk youth as well as incarcerated individuals. He works religiously to volunteer wherever he can be of assistance, whether it’s sponsoring events and providing free services to attendees or simply just passing out drinks/snacks to the homeless at the park. He’s always doing more to be a “better him”. He’s now a “Certified Life Coach”, and working to finish his first book, “The 5 Stages of Incarceration”.
